Practical info
Everything you need for a day at the office.
What PEAKS is
A co-working space in the middle of Zurich for people working on effective altruism and AI safety — researchers, people at aligned organisations, independent projects, and anyone curious about either.
Zeughausstrasse 31, 8004 Zurich. Eight minutes on foot from Zürich HB, or the tram to Sihlpost/HB or Stauffacher. Close to ETH and the University of Zurich, with plenty of places to eat nearby.
Co-working days
Tuesday and Thursday are the open days — that is when the hot desks are available to everyone, and the easiest way to see the space for the first time. Residents come and go as they please. There is usually someone here between 9:00 and 18:00.
Coming for the first time
Tell us before you turn up, either through the application form on this site or at team@peaks-office.ch, and somebody will be there to let you in. The door code, the key box and the floor plan sit behind the login — not because they are secret, but because a building entrance is not something to publish.
Half days
Desks can be booked for the whole day, just the morning, or just the afternoon — the handover is lunch. Two people sharing a desk across the day is normal and nobody has to negotiate it.
Lunch
We eat together at 12:30–13:30. You can come for lunch alone, without booking a desk — it is the easiest way to meet the people who work here, and you are welcome to do it as often as you like.
What is here
Desks with monitors, meeting rooms of a few sizes, a common room where we eat, a call booth and a quiet room, and a shelf of books on effective altruism and AI safety that anyone may borrow.
Checking in
Scan the QR code by the door when you arrive. Two taps. It is how we know how the space is actually used, and nobody is ever turned away for forgetting.
House guidelines
Quiet work during the day; conversation over lunch and after hours. Closed doors mean a meeting is happening.
- The 5-minute rule — short exchanges at the desks are fine. Longer conversations move to the Call Room, Matterhorn, or the coffee corner.
- Talk to each other. Need the window open? Too much noise nearby? Say so.
- Be nice and be respectful. Be considerate of other people's boundaries.
- Cancel bookings you will not use — one tap, and someone else gets the desk.
- Tidiness — clean up after yourself; say so straight away if something is broken.
If you ever feel unwelcome or uncomfortable, tell us. It matters to us.
